Closet Cleanout and an Intro to Swapdom!

 photo ClosetCleanoutSwapdom.jpg
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have caught on that I recently moved into a new place (YAY!). What's not so awesome, is that during the move, I tragically lost about half of my closet space (life is hard, lol), so a thorough closet cleanout was necessary in a major way. While I was flipping through my clothes, I realized just HOW MUCH of my wardrobe never actually gets worn! I'll fall in love with something, buy it, and one or two wears later, it's banished to the corners of my closet to die in favor of something new.
I'm terrible, I know.

Given my terrible shopping habits, I'll often end up with clothing that isn't worn more than a couple times but is still cute, current, and in perfect condition. In the past, these items have just sort of sat around (sometimes for years) until I decide to wear them again, or ended up at Goodwill during a move or closet purge. I hate feeling like I've wasted money buying clothes I rarely wear, so when Swapdom reached out to me about their swapping site, I was intrigued!

All you have to do is sign up, make a public profile (check mine out here), and start listing items. When you come across something you want, just make a request, and Swapdom does the rest to arrange the perfect swap. All you have to pay for is shipping. Genius, right?!

I've got four pieces up right now, including this lace dress from Kiyonna (I love it but it's a little too long for me!) and this crocheted tunic. Hopefully someone can give these pieces a good home! :)

What do you guys think? Is Swapdom a service you can get behind?

*This post was sponsored by Swapdom but all opinions are my own! So yes, I do really love this concept and can't wait to start swapping!

OFF WE GO

 photo DSC_8522editedcopy.jpg
As a California girl with a never-ending itch to travel, I just about DIED when I saw this Kate Spade clutch a year ago at Nordstrom. I couldn't justify shelling out almost $400 for a clutch (albeit an amazing one), so I held onto it for a few moments before placing it back on the display with a tear in my eye. I must have circled back at least 3 times to longingly gaze upon its perfection but in the end, I had to let it go.

Needless to say, when it popped up during one of Kate Spade's surprise sales for more than 50% off, I had to buy it! I added it to my cart and checked out with such an insane sense of urgency that my heart was racing. Have any of you experienced the adrenaline rush when you score something you've been coveting for ages?? So worth the wait!

If you're a Kate Spade fan like me, they're having another surprise sale now! I have my eye on the All Aboard Ship clutch and the Lemon Drop Lella (most adorable pineapple clasp ever!). Hurry though, because stock is super limited!

Shopping Spotlight: Contrast Trim Trench Coat

The Kate Spade 'Topliner' trench is perfection in my eyes. Its black trim, perfectly oversized and rounded lapels, and attention to detail (you can't see it here but the lining is a gorgeous Florence Boardhurst pattern that I've used as the border here) are the stuff of dreams. While I'm hardly the type to spend $700 on a jacket (I typically save that sort of investment $$ for bags), I would totally make an exception for this trench.

Kate Spade Topliner trench coat and plus size alternative

Unfortunately, the 'Topliner' trench goes up to a 14, a few sizes shy of what I wear. Given the fact that I can't remember the last time I was a 14 (maybe what, middle school??), I started searching for a suitable alternative. I came across the Piped Trench by So Fabulous and while it certainly isn't a perfect match, it works. I would probably swap out the included belt for different one (maybe a black one?) to increase the contrast, but at less then 1/10th of the price of the 'Topliner," this coat is a pretty good alternative.

Another option is to take Jessica Quirk's advice and make my own! ;) With my limited sewing skills though...I might just end up with a ruined trench, a pile of tangled trim, and throbbing fingertips.

What do you ladies do when you fall in love with a design that doesn't come in your size? Shop for alternatives? Make it yourself? DIET? (Just kidding! Don't yell at me.) I want to know!

unexpected light

[ :: Kmart LYS top and skirt :: H&M dream catcher earrings :: Kenneth Cole NY clutch :: ]
[ :: Evans ring :: Dolce Vita x Target wedges :: ]

Who would've thought that you can walk into Kmart and walk out with this outfit? I didn't until I walked into the Kmart on 34th in NYC! I love the LYS line, even more so now than when the it was first released! The new designs are more on-point then ever, and I am so psyched to see that their Fall/Holiday 2011 collection is going to be just as fierce.
Another huge plus? I their social media team!

Anyway, I apologize for being so behind! Trying to play catch-up at work and sifting through the 700+ photos I took during FFFWeek has had me completely swamped!

More updates soon! I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

pop pop pop

[ :: Cynthia Rowley scarf via TJMaxx :: Dolce Vita x Target wedges :: Coach bag :: H&M bangle :: ]
[ :: NY&Co stacked bangles :: surevolution gold driftwood bracelet via ideeli :: F21 earrings :: ]

I had been searching for AGESSS (okay, maybe just a week or two) for a bright, summery scarf to wear with my whites, when lo and behold, tangled in a mountain of scarves at TJMaxx was this gorgeous and cheery scarf from Cynthia Rowley! Such a score for less than 15 bucks! :D I couldn't wait to wear it out so I built this outfit around the scarf. I kept things simple with jeans and a white top, but added lots of colorful accessories to make the look pop a little. :)

Also, I totally had a regressive moment and decided it would be fun to paint my nails all different colors. Throwback to middle school? Anyone?? No? Just me? ...Oh.

Anyway, I'm currently recovering for having 4 teeth ripped out of my face. Don't ask me why I waited so long to have my wisdom teeth taken out, but finally, at 23, I bit the bullet and did it. Now, I look like a chipmunk. Woohoo!

Okay. I'm going to go take some more pain meds and make my boyfriend baby me. MUAHAHA.
Just kidding. Kind of.

Calvin Klein Plus Sizes on Ideeli!

[ :: My picks from ideeli's Calvin Klein sample sale! :: ]

I know I'm on a shopping ban, but I picked up the ruffled zip up top in poppy (top row, middle)! It technically won't be charged until it ships (which will be after the ban is over! lol) and I just can't say no to a pretty ruffle in a bold color! hehehe. :D

I really love the color palette Calvin Klein has been utilizing--the bright poppy colors are so perfect for Spring, and you can't help but smile when you see them! I've actually also been eyeing that printed dress for a while but I prefer a slightly lower neckline so I'm holding out for now! hehe :)
I'm not gonna lie though, their newly added free return shipping has me tempted! LOL
*EDIT: Apparently return shipping has always been free! This is why I love them.

As always, ideeli is a member's only sample sale site. You can sign up to shop via my invite link here!
Sign up and invite your friends--when they make a purchase, you get shopping credit! :)

Happy Shopping!

P.S. I was totally not paid (or given free stuff) to write this post. I just have a big soft spot for ideeli since it was the first sample sale site to really listen and try to cater to plus size women! I it when retailers listen! Also, its twitter team is awesome, and it has great customer service. Yay!

washed out

[ :: crappy, rainy, washed out weather courtesy of mother nature :: ]

I'm not usually a prints person but I'm currently having a bit of an ikat obsession. I just have this top (plus another one on the way!) in the print but I love it! I picked this up during the crazy 60% off everything City Chic sale, which had some seriously amazing deals! I snagged a few other pieces, which I can't wait to show you. :) This was, clearly, before the shopping ban which I've thus far sucked at. lol.

Did you guys buy anything from City Chic's super sale? I want to know! :D

for work&play

[ :: NY&Co ruffled shirtdress :: Torrid tights :: Epic by lori glazer coat :: BR braided chain bracelet :: ]
[ : Isabella Fiore bag :: TW earrings :: Cloudwalkers studded booties :: ]

This dress is my go-to non-suit power outfit. There's something about the color that makes me stand a little taller--a little straighter. I love wearing this for work because it's so bright and fun but still very professional. After all, why dress blah-ly just because you work in an office? :) Plus, this dress is great for transforming into a nighttime dinner/drinks outfit! Just throw on some awesome jewelry and

Anyway, finally decided to wear these shoes again after my first painful attempt. Surprisingly, I didn't get a single blister! Super comfortable. Maybe they just doesn't work well when walking long distances, lol. Yay! I'm still lusting after those Topshop crazy platform ankle boots though... hmm....

OH! And in case you don't follow me on Twitter, I tweeted about an awesome Asos coupon code: "ASOSFITNESS" will get you 20% off your purchase! It is supposed to be for loungewear and workout-wear, but it actually works on everything in the Asos Curve line--probably on main-size range too! Happy shopping! <3
