comfy cozy

My lovely, awesome, and hilarious blogging buddy Sarah from Return to Sender is still in town so I took her to South Coast Plaza (possibly my favorite mall ever) to partake in a little retail therapy! :D It was already pretty late when we got there but we managed to hit a couple department stores.
I found a gorgeous sequined Michael Kors cardigan on sale from Nordstrom. Pricey, but the quality is great. The quality of the sequins are sewn on extremely well and lay flat in a shimmery thick layer.

Macy's was where Sarah and I really hit the style jackpot though! We made about 3 trips to the fitting room (yes, we had that much to try on) and walked away with some amazing pieces--all on super sale! They're having a huge sale in stores and online right now if you're looking for something new to jazz up your wardrobe.

The Michael Kors Faux Fur Vest in this post was one of my purchases! The grey version is on sale for $105 online, but I snagged it in the cream/brown in-store for $70! It's so comfortable, true-to-size, and a great option if you love faux fur but are worried about adding bulk since the fur doesn't go all the way around the back (which also makes it perfect for mild-weathered California!)

I paired my new purchase with a top I bought on the cheap from Old Navy for $2(!!!), my go-to skinnies from Torrid, and my favorite boots. I love the slightly après ski vibe the fur gives off while being balanced with a rugged pair of riding boots. Easy, comfortable, and chic!

I also snagged some other pieces from Macy's sale that I can't wait to share with you including an awesome INC International Concepts sweater, an INC sequin lapel drapey vest, a lace top from American Rag's junior plus line (only $13!), and a drapey top in army green from L8ter, another of Macy’s junior plus lines! Sarah also snagged the most AMAZING Alfani bodycon dress in black (of course) with a faux leather panel down the front--and for only $30. Gorgeous AND a good deal.

Have any of you fabulous readers taken advantage of the Macy's sale?
I'm dying to know what gorgeous fashions you've scored!

go stand in the corner

Sarah is visiting, which means we're basically having a ridiculous, granny, snarky, tourist-y, fashion blogger-y extended sleepover. We've also been hit with awesome SoCal weather--70+ and sunny, making it perfect for poolside (or jacuzzi-side) bbqs and napping on the beach. More photos of that later on! :)

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. lol.

P.S. After much confusion, I figured out why my bloglovin' was so janky. Now fixed! Follow my blog with bloglovin! :D

like spring

[ :: H&M top :: Nordstrom tank :: NY&Co skirt :: Banana Republic trench coat :: ]
[ :: heartdance earrings (japan) :: H&M bracelet :: Torrid shoes :: Coach handbag :: ]

It's seriously wayyy too warm in Southern California right now. It's like Winter ended and we're on the tail-end of Spring. I think it was something like 78 degrees when I wore this to work! I wish I'd taken more detail shots but someone was lurking nearby and it totally made me antsy. Oh well, haha.

Lately, I've been dying for more color in my wardrobe. For the last month, it seems like every time I reached into my closet, I pulled out something black, gray, or blue. What can I say? They're my Winter colors. Must be the change in weather then--all I want to wear now are bright, happy colors in sheer, floaty fabrics.
Time for a shopping trip, maybe. :D After all, Sarah (aka @tabayag) is coming to visit on Thursday!
Perfect excuse. :D

maximum minimalist

[ :: Dorothy Perkins shirt :: Nordstrom cami :: Gap modern boot pants :: Topshop Aggie boots :: ]
[ :: lec'neca crystal earrings via ideeli :: H&M bracelet :: F21 bracelet :: Cynthia Rowley bag :: ]

I almost never wear pants. It's seriously always jeans, skirts, or dresses. I think it has something to do with was all those years in business school dressing up in full suits for presentations. However, the moment I put these pants on, I was in love! I love the sort of wide-legged, slightly 70's flare-ish-ness of the cut, and that I can pair them with my highest heels without them looking funny. Go Gap! :D

Also, totally in love with the lec'neca earrings (which I also bought from ideeli...I swear I'm only a little addicted...=X). They look a bit like I broke pieces off of someone's chandelier but I'm okay with that. They're shiny. :)

P.S. Regarding the whole minimalist trend, this is probably as minimalist as I'll get. I think I just like jewelry and other crap too much, haha. What do you guys think??

some friday

[ :: Asos one shoulder dress :: Loft belt :: Forever21 platforms :: Banana Republic lion bracelet :: ]
[ :: surevolution driftwood bracelet via ideeli :: winter market buddha necklace :: F21 (not photographed) :: ]

This outfit is a little like this one's half-naked twin. Or maybe not. But kind of, right?

For anyone interested in this dress from Asos, buy true to size, or maybe even one size down. I sized up thinking it would drape better, but it's just big, even with a belt! It's definitely comfy though. And I loooooove the big sheer sleeve! :D Go Asos! haha

Ooh, also, the gold bracelet from surevolution was purchased from ideeli! I bought it 3 years ago and it's probably one of my most worn pieces. LOVE that you need to get up close to notice all the little details. :)

cloak and dagger

...minus the dagger.

[ :: Asos cape :: Forever21+ petal top and sequin skirt :: BP tank :: Steve Madden heels :: ]
[ :: Loft belt :: F21 lady bag :: drugstore hair-tie :: ]

Yes, that's a hair-tie on my wrist. I'm starting this awesome new trend, you see. Soon, everyone will be hoarding these, not unlike the horizontal cross rings seen on every blogger known to man!

.....totally just kidding. I forgot to take it off for photos and didn't realize it till I was going through these. Can you blame me for keeping it there though?? It's just so darn convenient for tying my hair up while being super Asian and eating a bowl of noodle soup on my lunch break. my bad, fashion gods.

Onto the fashion! Love the cape. It's almost scarily large so I belted it through the armholes. *GENIUS*
Actually, not so genius. The belt made it decidedly more difficult to buckle my seatbelt without looking like a total jackass. Or you know, do anything without looking like a total jackass.
Oh well! I got to feel what it's like to be that dinosaur from Toy Story. lol.
"I have a BIG HEAD and LITTLE ARMS!" ha.ha.ha.

Oh jeez I need sleep. Jet lag, you kill me.

P.S. I'm frowning in that last shot because my bf said one of my photos made me look like evil. Something about my arm demonically coming out of nowhere. :( Boo him.

too worried to photograph.

I'm horrible, I know. I was so worried about taking my DSLR out into the freezing cold (and consequently damaging it due to condensation...or slipping on ice and dropping my camera) that I did not take NEARLY enough photos. Thankfully, my dad did, so I will post some of those as soon as I get my hands on them! :)

Of the very few shots I took, here are three of my faves. :)

Happy New Year! :)
