cloud bursting--it keeps me sharp

[ :: Asos Curve dress :: Topshop wedges :: Cynthia Rowley bag :: ]
[ :: NY&Co bracelets :: bow & crystal earrings from taiwan :: ]

Woohoo! Part 3 of the Asos unveiling! lol. Today was amazinggggg. The weather was perfect! Nice and warm and sunny...a little windy to be wearing a dress...but no mooning! haha.

Anyhow, I love this dress! I was a little hesitant to post this dress since every fatshion blogger seems to own it (probably from the initial PR stuff they did when Curve first launched) but I love it too much not to share it with you guys! It's super comfy and relatively flattering...I think it would look better on girls who have bottom-heavy body shapes unlike my my top-heavy one, but screw it. I <3 it!

Anyway, messed around a lot today--seeing as I actually woke up at a decent time! :D Also, had time to raid the candy aisle at 7-Eleven before dinner so I have a roll of lifesavers and some sour patch gummies in my purse. :D Yesss.

Hmmm, one day later and I'm no closer to deciding what to bring to Vegas.
Maybe some Polyvore fun will do the trick.

game show love connection we can't deny

[ :: Asos Curve slinky top :: Banana Republic Blazer :: iT! rising starlet skinnies :: Cloudwalkers booties :: ]
[ :: Dear Bearcat ear cuff :: F21 bracelet :: random brandless clutch I found in my closet :: ]

Yayyy--snapped some photos just in time to catch the last rays of light--kind of cool to look back at the photos because you can see the sky get darker and darker. :) This rooftop was a place the bf and I discovered randomly. Noticed it had an awesome view of the city and we made plans to go have a picnic or something...never happened. lol. Makes for nice photos though! :)

Anyhow, I love this top from Asos! It's super comfortable, and can be shifted around a little to be asymmetric  for added interest. Something I would change about this top is the placement of the knotty bit in front--it's sort of unflattering to have all the extra fabric hang right in from of your stomach--I felt a little preggers in it, lol. Also, the fabric is great and super soft, but it's the type that shows every nook and cranny of your body--love handles and back fat beware! Oh, and the fabric photographs like wrinkly crushed velvet. It's not. lol.

Anyhoo, I'm starting to plan what I'm going to pack for my Vegas trip! Let's see...5 days, 5 nights. Weather will be bright and sunny and upper 80's. I'd love to "pack light" but can't choose what to bring! lol bad news.

Anyone have advice on packing light for Vegas??
 I've been there a million times but always end up bringing my entire wardrobe! =X

absence makes the heart grow fonder

[ :: Asos Curve blazer :: Torrid striped top & skinnies :: Topshop waffle lace-up wedges :: ]
[ :: BR chain bracelet :: AE bracelet :: H&M bag :: ]

YESSS. THEY HAVE ARRIVED!!!
Hehe. I woke up ridiculously late today since I was up until sunrise working on my shop, lol--When I get into "work-mode" I don't stop until I feel like I've accomplished something. But that's besides the point...'cause my purchases arrived!! :D Woohoo!

First off, allow me to RAVE about the Topshop Waffle Lace Up wedges. They are sooo comfy for being 5.5 inches!! Must be the massive platform. They do, however, run small. I wear a US 10, so I ordered a UK8--which is the equivalent of a US 10.5 according to their website. They just barely fit my feet! Would probably fit a 9.5 perfectly--definitely not for someone who is an ACTUAL 10.5. These shoes work great for wide feet though, as the laces are 100% adjustable. :)

The folks at Torrid were sweet enough to send over a bunch of awesome stuff--this top was included! It's a mishmash of stripey-ness, and its got a tough little zipper detail at the neckline. Right up my alley! :) The skinnies are also from Torrid, and while the last few pairs they sent weren't the right fit/size for me, these Fragile "power stretch" jeans are perfection. They aren't ridiculously tight around the ankle, and fit everywhere else perfectly. Also, it has a higher waist, which completely eliminates any chance of muffin top! My only recommendation is to order a size down as the sizing is in "W"...as in 14W, 16W. I'm a size 16 bottom, and the 14W fit perfectly!

Yay! Can't wait for the upcoming OOTD's! :) Stay tuned :)

P.S. If you have a minute, please check out my shop! I've lowered a bunch of prices and am open to reasonable negotiation. Unfortunately, I can't negotiate shipping aside from combining items. All shipping has been calculated at cost. Sorry international shoppers! I know it sucks. :(  It's really the shipment of the first item that sucks--if you buy multiple items, the shipping only goes up a little bit, I think. For combined shipments, I will bring the items to the post office to get an accurate quote for you! :)

CurvyGirlShop News! Total Renovation! :)

Sorry for the extended (2 days, lol) blogging hiatus!!
I've been working furiously on CurvyGirlShop trying to make it more user-friendly and visually appealing! :) You can now look up items by category--tops, sweaters, dresses, shoes, etc! :) Plus, all of the items are on the first page...I'm still trying to figure out how to make the photos unsmooshed on the homepage, but other than that, it's ready to go! :) I've also added some new items to the shop--lots of tops in a range of sizes--I hope you'll take a look!

Also, I dropped the prices of all the originally listing items. If you can't tell, I really need to get rid of some of my clothes! lol--Not because I no longer want them, but I'm moving back to Cali in just over a month and I will be seriously downsizing in terms of closet space (sadddd!) So I need to selectively pick and choose what I'll be taking with me and either sell or donate the rest. :)

Anyhow, I'd love to know if you all prefer the new shop layout or the old one--plus, any other suggestions would be fabulous! <3 I will get back to regular blogging and inundating your RSS feeds with outfits posts as soon as I catch up on some sleep! Heart you guys!

Yours, Etc.
CurvyGirlChic

P.S. I will definitely still be photographing shots of me in the clothes--I just wanted to get a head start by getting some "on-the-hanger" photos for the new items! :) Thanks loves!

insanity it seems has got me by my soul to squeeze

[ :: H&M dress :: Gap denim jacket :: Aldo boots :: Felix Rey for Target tote :: heart drop earrings :: ]
[ :: mixed bracelets from ideeli and NY&Co :: ]

Ahhhh! I'm so...fidgety. Every once in a while I get so restless. I'm the type of person who needs constant change/challenge/mental stimulation. Is that weird??? Usually a trip somewhere different or a recreational class or project fixes this--but when I get like this I get soooo moody (poor bf) until something changes. It's like I get tired of doing one thing and need immediate gratification via something new.
Hopefully Vegas will help mix things up a bit but a week and a half is a long time to feel like this. Blahhhh.
Maybe I'll go to New York to visit my sister. (Who's AWESOME. And shamelessly fashion-forward. If she ever effing posts some photos I'll show you!) :)

Anyway! The Felix Rey for Target bag is one of my most humongous. I can literally fit everything from my bag post into the flat bottom of the bag, leaving room for a beach towel, water bottle, magazines, and laptop if I wanted. It's massive. Strangely enough, I like the lining more than I like the actual bag. it's this white and blue wavy stripe--which of course I forgot to photograph. Awesome. The boots are ones I've had since freshman year of college. I am such a total hoarder of shoes. =X

Oh oh! And the dress is new! One of my last purchases pre-shopping-ban. Look ya'll. I know it's hard to walk into a store that doesn't carry your numerical size, but you've got to trust me--you'll be able to find things that work for you. This dress is actually a stripey white and light blue, AND a size 14 which fits my size 18 top perfectly (thank the clothing lords for smocked backs! <3). And at $24.90, definitely worth checking out.
Also, a ton of their newer items are seriously oversized or super stretchy, making them easy for multiple body types to work into their wardrobes. So if you haven't already, CHECK IT OUT and let me know what you think. :)

Bag Voyeurism

I don't really know what it is about sneaking a peak into someone else's bag...it's not like they're hiding baby toes or something in there--and yet, I always want to know! Is it just me? lol. Anyway, I was tagged to do a little bag voyeurism so here you go...

Bag:
Isabella Fiore studded bag

Contents:
[ :: Coach wallet :: iPhone :: keys with Marc by MJ keychains :: compact mirror :: ]
[ :: mini jewelry case for instant accessorizing <3 :: mini bvlgari perfume :: trusty umbrella :: ]
[ :: random peppermint from some dinner? ::  foldable hairbrush (BEST FRIEND.) :: ]
[ :: chapstick/gloss :: Shiseido moisturizer :: eye drops :: pen :: bobby pins :: cheap sunnies in expensive case :: ]
[[ :: Nikon DSLR...not shown for obvious reasons! <3 :: ]]

This is why I love big roomy bags! I carry so much crap around with me, haha.
Hmmm...so if shopping counts as cardio, does having a heavy bag count as weight lifting? :D

I won't tag you guys 'cause I'm horrible at responding to tags myself, but what do you guys haul around all day? Like I said, I'm curious! :D

P.S. I know I'm so late to acknowledge, but a HUUUUGE thanks to Monique of Curves and Chaos for featuring me! Check out the mini-interview here! <333

cuff me

[ :: Michael Kors leather jacket :: VS one shoulder bubble-hem top :: AE white denim skirt :: ]
[ :: Jeffrey Campbell mayhem wedges :: Isabella Fiore bag :: Dear Bearcat ear cuff :: F21 bracelet :: ]

I love my new Dear Bearcat ear cuff! It's perfectly slinky and sexy. Jessy, the owner and designer of the shop is a total sweetheart so definitely check out her shop! If any of you lovely readers would like to make a purchase, you can use code DBRF001 for 5% off your purchase. :)

Yay! This is totally on my wishlist from her store:

They'd be so hot with the new Topshop ankle boots I just ordered (on sale)! Speaking of which... I'm definitely waiting for 7 packages to arrive. Definitely my cue to STOP SHOPPING. That and shipments from the UK totally need to speed up. I'm so impatient. Asos + Topshop, HURRY!!! I can hardly contain myselfffffff.

Okay. No more shopping until Vegas. That's...2 weeks. If I can't do this I'm committing myself to shopaholics anonymous.

P.S. Anyway--I just wanted to set the record straight about the last post. I am NOT attacking the conference or Gabi--I think she's amazing for coordinating this--it takes a whole freaking lot of time and effort to put this together. I wholly support what she's doing and I do NOT blame her for making it a private event. I only think that they shouldn't have publicized it in a way that makes others feel left out. That's it.

P.P.S. HI NEW FOLLOWERS!! <333 Did you enter the giveaway? :D

Fat Girl Politics

A bunch of you have been asking what all the Twitter fuss was about. Honestly, the argument is a little silly. The gist of the matter is that some people are insulted that they weren't invited to an uber-publicized blogger conference. Some people took it personally enough to get a little nasty about it via Twitter. So some other tweeps got a little nasty back. Pretty entertaining stuff. Or I'm just easily amused. Whatever.

There are some interesting underlying issues though. Consider this--for a community that's supposed to be about acceptance and openness, it is somewhat surprising (well...not really, I guess) to see a conference that is essentially an exclusive event be publicized so heavily. After all, many plus size girls tend to feel left out already--and they think they've found a safe, accepting, and nonjudgmental haven in the fatshion community. Then, they find out they haven't really--there's still hierarchy, drama, judgment & politics.

The general consensus (of non-attendees) seems to be that the planner(s) shouldn't have publicized the event so heavily if it's a closed, private party. Why get everyone excited about an event that they aren't really invited to? Yes, there's a meet and greet and you'd like your readers to come, but don't you also understand that the people most willing to come to that meet and greet are the ones you've just left out and insulted by essentially deeming them unworthy of being actual participants? And anyway, asking people to come to NY from all over for a 3 hour meet and greet during a weekend-long event is a lot like asking someone out to dinner but shooing them away after they've had the complimentary rolls.

On the other hand, I am also not a fan of the things some people are doing in response--more accurately, the reason why they are doing what they are. A bunch of people have contacted me about hosting or planning a get-together as a "take THAT!" to not being invited to the conference. To be quite clear, this is not everyone. There are some people who do it with thought and good reason (like some of the west coast & UK bloggers--i <3 you guys!), but there are also those who...wait, what's that? Really? You want me to join yours because I wasn't invited to the other one? Please. Not a good enough reason. Many of the emails I received from people didn't say anything about actually wanting to meet me. Nope. It was all about the "Let's meet because apparently we aren't good enough to be invited to the other blogger conference." Oh. Gee, thanks??? While all the ladies I received emails from are amazing people and fabulous bloggers that I would love to meet, I just can't get behind the reason.

Personally, I don't mind that I'm not included in the big conference. If I were going to be in NYC the day of the meet & greet, I'd probably stop by and say hi. I'm not about to go out of my way, but it'd be cool to meet the girls there.

Really, it's just a bunch of women who are fat and who like fashion hanging out together. Do they have to include you simply because you're fat and fashionable? I don't think so. Should they have paraded it around in your face? Probably not, but it's done now. If you want to plan something of your own, by all means, do so! But do it because you're genuinely interested in the people you're meeting, not to make yourself feel better.

Anyway, the girl spent what, 6 months putting this all together? Someone give her a little credit. There's only so much one person can do.

Oh well, this is all just my opinion. What do you guys think?

Yours, Etc.
CurvyGirlChic

P.S. I totally feel like I'm going to get slaughtered for writing this post.! lolol I'm also wondering how many people are going to stop following me for being so controversial in a post. My guess is 10. The bf is betting on more.

P.P.S. Writing these content-heavy posts is tiring. I soooo don't plan on doing it often, lol. Pictures, anyone? haha

Just for fun--the scene from Mean Girls that came to mind during this entertaining little Twitter distraction. hehe:

make it new

[ :: H&M top and skirt :: Michael Shannon heels :: Paradox leather clutch :: ]
[ :: bracelet from some sale on ideeli :: Heartdance ring :: necklace from TW :: ]

YESSSSSSS! Just booked our trip to Vegas! :D Free flights, and discounted hotels. LOVE bargain travel without sacrificing quality! :D Can't wait for gorgeous warm pool-side weather and shopping! :) Not that I really need to be buying anything else. I've been very bad at restraining my shopping...:( But I couldn't help it! I ended up snagging these ankle boots at the Topshop sale today--$90 down from $160--and only left in my size (now sold out completely)! PLUS, I have a student advantage code saved for another 10% off! Came out to $96 with  $15 flat rate shipping. :) So happy since I've been in love with them since I posted about them here!

Oh, and to continue with my string of embarrassing moments, I'm pretty sure I mooned a hotel doorman today. Lots of fun. Totally wearing bright green polka dot underwear. Classy.

Yours, Etc.

P.S. HUGEEE thanks to IZA who offered to make me a new header! This girl is awesome! xo

P.P.S. Would anyone be interested in these Michael Shannon heels if I put them in the shop? They're comfortable on my 10W feet, and are actually a size 11M. I love the shoes but my ankles slide out when I'm walking :(  Would probably post for $30. They're in great condition 'cause I never wear enough light colors to justify wearing off-white shoes! lol.
