Link Love Friday 04.29.11

Hey loves! ♥ It's that time again! :D
This week's faves are....

Leandra of Man Repeller: Smells Like 1977: Return of the Flare Leg

I love The Man Repeller. Leandra's blog is hilarious, irreverent, sartorial genius. I also have a thing for flares and feathers. Just see my last outfit. lol. Anyway, if you aren't already following her, you should. Her writing is ALWAYS entertaining, and her outfits rock!
-- --

Lilli of Frocks and Frou Frou: Creature of Habit

I loove this ladylike look from Lilli of Frocks and Frou Frou! The outfit suits her perfectly and creates quite the enviable hourglass shape. I also love anything in the ruffle family, so that peplum shape is the clincher for me! That necklace is totally cute, too. :D
-- --

Blair of Atlantic-Pacific - Pop

Atlantic-Pacific is pretty new to me, but I'm already maddddly in love with it! This girl has impeccable style, and gorgeous photography. This outfit is definitely one of my favorites. I love the sort of Audrey/Jackie inspiration. :D She's definitely a must-read!

As always, I hope you liked my picks! Let me know in the comments if there's a blog you think should be featured! :) I love finding new blogs. :)

rare birds

[ :: Pinky top :: Forever21+ cami :: gifted Loop18 denim trousers :: Vince Camuto bag via Macy's:: ]
[ :: Two Lips woven wedges from my bf! ♥ thank you! :D :: diy feather earring :: ]
[ :: AE wood/brass bangle :: surevolution gold bangle via ideeli :: ]

Hi loves! :D I wore this to.......wait for it.......eat pizza and buy groceries. Ta-da! haha I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Mine was filled with relaxation, good food, movies (I finally saw Tangled! So funny. :D), and a walk to the prettiest view I've seen in a long time.

The moment my boyfriend surprised me with these shoes (I'd been coveting them for weeks, and was so brokenhearted when they sold out--turns out he bought the last pair!), I knew I wanted to rock them with wide-leg/flared denim to play up its 70's/hippie chic vibe. So fun, and I love the wide-leg silhouette for Spring. :)

What do you guys think of the wide-leg/flared look?
I know lots of you are skinny jean devotees, so I'm curious to know if you'll be rocking this shape!

tea party on the ceiling

[ :: Xhiliration dress (Target...$25 can you believe it?!) :: Sweaterworks cardi :: AE belt :: F21 shoes :: ]
[ :: H&M clutch :: Modcloth shield ring :: grosgrain flower ring from Taiwan :: ]

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know I was totally dying to buy a certain dress. Welllll, this is it! haha. I love polka dots and sweetheart necklines, so when I saw this hanging all by it's lonesome self at Target, I had to try it on! I totally love the fit, and the cut is soooo pretty. I paired it with a cardi I haven't worn in wayyy too long. Not buying new clothes really forces you to LOOK at your closet. lol!

Anyway, I'm hosting a lunch for my girls next week (can't wait!) and this is a serious outfit contender! hehe :) I can't wait to hang out, eat, drink, and be merry!

This week's faves! ♥
Feminine, flirty, and all around amazing, these are a few of my favorite looks from the week:

[ :: Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere - Petaled Pink :: ]

 img from cupcakesandcashmere.com

I absolutely adore Emily's feminine, floaty style, and as a Cali girl, I definitely appreciate a cool, laid back outfit like this! What really seals the deal for me though, is that amazing jacket. That scalloped hem is EVERYTHING.
-----

[ :: Tory Burch of Torypedia - C is for Cobra :: ]

img from torypedia.tumblr.com

How a woman can look so classy and composed less than a foot away from a (very much alive-looking) cobra is beyond me. (I wouldn't get that close to a fake one. You know, just in case.) Love this tumblr and it's amazing photos! Definitely a must-read!
-----

[ :: Kelly of The Glamourai - Lipstick Diaries :: ]

img from theglamourai.com

This woman is seriously so fabulous. Her photos are absolutely gorgeous and I love the quirky and original way she puts outfits together. This shot is from a collab with refinery29 and dior. I'm absolutely in love with her l'ecole des femmes trench! So classic.
-----

[ :: Nicolette of NicoletteMason - Rainbow Sherbert :: ]

img from nicolettemason.blogspot.com

I love Nicolette's mix of tough and girly pieces in this look! The layering is spot on, and I'm a shoe fiend, so you know I'm dyinggg over those H&M Inclusive wedges. Nicolette has got fabulous style, an amazing eye, and gorgeous photography. Definitely a blog you should be following!

I hope you guys love this week's links as much as I do! :) xo! ♥

Calvin Klein Plus Sizes on Ideeli!

[ :: My picks from ideeli's Calvin Klein sample sale! :: ]

I know I'm on a shopping ban, but I picked up the ruffled zip up top in poppy (top row, middle)! It technically won't be charged until it ships (which will be after the ban is over! lol) and I just can't say no to a pretty ruffle in a bold color! hehehe. :D

I really love the color palette Calvin Klein has been utilizing--the bright poppy colors are so perfect for Spring, and you can't help but smile when you see them! I've actually also been eyeing that printed dress for a while but I prefer a slightly lower neckline so I'm holding out for now! hehe :)
I'm not gonna lie though, their newly added free return shipping has me tempted! LOL
*EDIT: Apparently return shipping has always been free! This is why I love them.

As always, ideeli is a member's only sample sale site. You can sign up to shop via my invite link here!
Sign up and invite your friends--when they make a purchase, you get shopping credit! :)

Happy Shopping!

P.S. I was totally not paid (or given free stuff) to write this post. I just have a big soft spot for ideeli since it was the first sample sale site to really listen and try to cater to plus size women! I it when retailers listen! Also, its twitter team is awesome, and it has great customer service. Yay!

Shopping Spotlight: Favorite Plus Size Swimwear!

It's getting to be that time of year again! :D

Time for vacations, beaches, pools, and sun--aka SWIMSUIT SEASON! *cue creepy Jaws music*

For curvy women, finding sexy, chic swimwear can be quite the daunting task. Retailers seem to think we want to cover ourselves with as much fabric as possible, and only go out in black. While I'm all for black swimsuits (goes with everything, and looks awesome with gold jewelry!) I can't stand the idea that plus-size women should cover up as much as possible in public. Every woman should get the chance to flaunt her curves in a sexy swimsuit with a smile and a ton of confidence! :D

Check out some of my favorite swimsuits for this season--I love that designs are getting more daring and eye catching! :D

I own numbers 5 and 9, and loooove them!! The Miraclesuit has an underwire which I can DEFINITELY appreciate (no possibility of slippage when I'm at the beach or swimming at the pool!) and the Monif C. suits are just about the most original, gorgeous suits available in plus sizes. I'm seriously contemplating picking up the Asos Corsage Swimsuit as well--I love the little flowers that line the neckline! Also, that Moroccan print suit from Evans is taunting me in the best way possible. All I want to do is wear that suit with super tall wedges, a floppy hat, and a sheer sarong.
All while laying out on a gorgeous beach somewhere far, far away

What will you guys be wearing when swimsuit season rolls around??

Link Love Friday 04.15.11

Hey guys! ♥

I wanted to start a fun little link sharing feature on my blog--the hope is that I'll post a few of my favorite blogs/posts at the moment so you can all partake in their awesomeness! :D
So! My faves this week are...*drumroll please*...

[ :: Fran of Frantic Dreams - Something I Can't Control :: ]

I love this girl's style! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good blazer, and she's totally rocking this one! :)
-----

[ :: Jennifer of JasiferLionsClub - OOTD: Color Pop :: ]

Those. Shoes. Enough said. Actually, not enough. she's also the nicest person ever. The End.
-----

[ :: Lily of Bleed for Fashion - Lights, Camera, Fashion Part 2 :: ]

Not plus size, obviously, but so, SO good. Love her style. She also has the most epic shoe collection ever.
-----

So what do you guys think? Is this a feature you'd like to see regularly on CGC?
I come across so many amazing blogs and posts and would love sharing them with you guys!
Also, if you'd like to be featured, or know someone who should be, just let me know in the comments w/ a link to your post! ♥

i will take you in

[ :: City Chic Rachel maxi :: Gap jacket :: H&M clutch and bracelet :: ]
[ :: Forever21 necklaces :: Topshop wedges :: ]

Hey loves! I'm back from my staycation! :D Exhausted from all the activities we did but it was so worth it! :D

Anyway, I love love loooove this maxi. I picked it up during the awesome 60% off sale that City Chic had and had the inner skirt shortened a little as the length was just a bit too long for me. It has satin ribbons that you can tie together to create a draped skirt but I prefer it down. :D Toned down the dressiness of the look with the army jacket and tangled/chain-y/mixed up necklaces. :D

Also, finally unpacked my beloved Aggie wedges from Topshop. Love them so much I can hardly bear to wear them! I tend to do that with items I love--I'll keep something in its packaging or wear it less because I don't want to break/stain/scratch it. Anyone else do this?! My friends think I'm a little neurotic for it. LOL

P.S. Thanks for all the amazing comments on my last outfit post--I read every single one and can't tell you how much I appreciate them! ♥ you guys!

lace take two

[ :: American Rag lace top via Macy's :: diy shorts from LYS :: Asos Curve drapey blazer :: ]
[ :: Michael Kors bag via Macy's :: Forever21 bracelet and earrings :: ]
[ :: Baby Phat (don't judge--they're cute!) pumps :: ]

Outfit #2 with the American Rag lace top I bought from Macy's! I really wanted to embrace the feminine, floaty feel of the top so I paired it with my girliest of items. :D I love how it looks under the drapey Asos blazer! The blazer is darker than the Asos photos led me to believe, which, if you follow me on Twitter, you know that I was a bummed about. Still, I love the cut so much I couldn't part with it! :) My photos, actually, are also a bit deceiving--the color is really darker. I think the flash makes it look lighter than it really is. Ah well.

Anyway, I decided to toughen up this girly ensemble with some tribal-inspired jewelry from F21--you've got to love on-trend, affordable pieces--and finished everything off with sparkly gold pumps and my (current) favorite bag!

Thanks for reading! ♥
