When given the choice between gold and silver, I almost always reach for gold. There's something about the element that elevates any outfit. Whether it's the addition of a sparkly necklace, or the embellishment on a bright pair of shoes (how fun is the gold toe detail on these pumps?!), gold is always my favorite finishing touch.

I recently snagged this dress on final sale from LOFT but dumped it in my to-tailor pile since it was a few inches too long. Naturally I started rummaging through said pile when I ran out of clean laundry (and time!), so I grabbed the dress, brought the length up a bit with a gold belt, and headed out!

I don't know if I'm mentally preparing for fall or it's just my usual gravitation toward all things leather, but I can't get enough of wearing leather and leather-like pieces (even in this heat!). I love this shiny sort-of-faux-leather skirt, and played up its rocker vibe with a studded crop top (previously worn here)! Accessorized with a wide cuff from Hearts.com that I absolutely adore (how gorgeous is that chain and stone detail??), and some chunky booties with mesh insets.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH

Took a weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle and reacquaint myself with parts of California I haven't gotten to visit since I was little! So much fun to get away from the crowds for a day.

I was recently introduced to Dr Jays, a budget-friendly e-tailer of fashion for men, women, and kids. This site has something for everyone. The plus size section checks in at 818 items! Crazy. This bold, striped dress was just too fun and summery to pass up, and believe it or not, it's the first article of orange clothing in my closet! I love the skater fit and the draped, jersey construction. Decided to keep things bright with some bright yellow accessories (completely smitten with this statement necklace!) and my all-time favorite denim jacket.

Don't mind me as I finally have a Carrie moment with this personalized name necklace! I've always wanted one but was NOT allowed to when I was younger. I think my parents were afraid I would let myself be kidnapped by someone whom I thought knew my name. lol!

Now that I (hopefully) know better than to go running off with a stranger, I decided to indulge in my SATC dreams and have an "Allison" necklace made! This one from ONecklace is perfectly light and delicate, plated in 24K gold, and I love that you can customize the chain length. (For reference, I'm wearing the 18-inch version!) The necklace is perfect for layering with other necklaces for more impact or being worn on its own for a more delicate look.

This is my go-to look for vacationing in hot weather. There is literally nothing worse than being hot, uncomfortable, and sweaty when you're supposed to be enjoying yourself, so my travel essentials always include a cute pair of denim shorts, a breezy top, a cute carry-all, and lots of fun jewelry to spice up a look!

I'm a little obsessed with these shorts at the moment (I've been wearing them every weekend since I got them!). They are quite possibly the best-fitting shorts I've ever owned, and the crochet detail is the perfect addition to a beachy outfit.

So in love with this top, too! Doubled as a beach coverup during vacation. So cute and nautical!

Obsessed with these shorts. Also, I felt like such a badass with this eagle ring on. Always a good thing.

Being a tourist and snapped this in front of Diamond Head! :D Paired this necklace with my outfit to keep things interesting. I love the red-on-red effect! :D (It's actually red-on-red-on-red if you include my sunburn. ha! :P)

Loved this outfit from my trip to Hawaii! So perfect for strolling and shopping around Waikiki and checking out the ginormous banyan trees along the beach. Attempting to channel my inner Beyonce with this Beyonce x H&M bustier top! I love it with this bright swingy skirt and crescent necklace from Hearts.

BANYAN TREE! So cool right?! :D It has vines (aerial roots, actually) that come down from the branches and become roots, then thicken into tree trunks. The tree just gets bigger and thicker and more epic over time. Awesome.
